Website design Sligo: what it costs, firm by firm

Five County Sligo web firms that we could place at a street or in the companies register print their prices. Among the registered ones: €750 for a four-page site at Sligo Websites in Strandhill, from €999 at Sevenoways in Coolaney, or €199 + VAT a month to rent one from Dmac Media in Sligo town. With us it is €40 a month excl. VAT on yearly billing, with no setup fee.

Our prices €40 a month excl. VAT when billed yearly (€480 for the year), or €50 month to month. No setup fee.

On 16/10/2026 we searched “website design sligo” on Google, set to Ireland and to Sligo. Eight of the first ten results belong to six firms with an address in the county, and one of them, Sligo Web Design, takes three places: its site, its Facebook page and its LinkedIn page. The other two results are a firm in Drogheda and Kells, and Bark, a directory. Three of the six print a price on their own pages. Below are the prices of five Sligo firms, the two from the first ten we could check and three more that Google lists for the same search, each with its address and the day we read it.

What a website costs in Sligo from other providers

Sligo Web Design

Address Strandhill, Co. Sligo: “Dorrins Stand [sic], Strandhill, Sligo” in its footer, “Our head office is located in Strandhill” on its pages. Its terms call it “a business registered in Ireland”; we found no entry under this name in the CRO's register.

  • Basic Website Design: “From €550 + VAT”, 5-6 core pages, one year of hosting and a domain (up to €40)
  • Complete Website Design: “From €1000 + VAT”, 10-15 core pages
  • The first answer of the FAQ on the same page: designs “start from €750 + VAT for a basic, professionally crafted site”

Fourth in the results, and also fifth and ninth with its Facebook and LinkedIn pages. The cards and the FAQ of one page give two starting prices, €200 apart: we print both. Its maintenance page prices “Basic Website Maintenance” at €50 + VAT and “Core Website Maintenance” at €100 + VAT, without saying per month or per year: ask.

Sligo Websites

Address Strandhill, County Sligo (its contact page, no street); business name “Sligo Websites”, registered in Sligo (CRO)

  • Copper, a do-it-yourself WordPress site: €750 for 4 pages
  • Silver: €975 for 4 pages; Gold: €1250 for 4-6 pages, with a year of monthly WordPress care
  • Platinum, an online shop: €1750 for 6 pages “with up to 5 products added” (the list beneath says “Shopping cart with 3 products added”, then “Add €45 per product thereafter”); extra pages €95 each
  • After the first year: hosting “€60.00 pa”, a domain “€20 for .com names and €25 for .ie names”, care at “a discounted rate of €85.00pa”

Sixth in the results. Each package includes a domain and hosting for the first year, and the page prints what follows: “The only other cost that you will have on an annual basis is to renew your web hosting and domain name.” Its separate WordPress care plans cost €95 once, or €19.95 or €39.95 a month. The page does not say whether VAT is included, and lists no online booking.

  • Smarter, with a custom design and Google Ads management: €369 + VAT a month, 12 months minimum
  • The All-In, adding social media management: €599 + VAT a month, 12 months minimum

Not in the first ten; Google lists it among the local firms for the same search. A website rented by the month: Starter brings a template-based design, domain and hosting, its content management system and “One Hour Updates & Management Per Month”. The page lists no online booking, and the firm publishes no price for a website bought outright.

  • Web design “from €999”, a one-off project
  • Website care plans “from €79/month”

Its monthly plans are marketing, not websites: from €349 for its Google Business Profile and local SEO, from €699 with SEO content and Meta ads. “All plans are rolling monthly, no long-term contracts.” Its web design page says booking integrations are “set up and tested before launch”, without pricing the booking tool. No VAT mention on the pricing page.

The search was “website design sligo” on Google (Ireland, English, location Sligo), on 16/10/2026. We opened every page the same day in a browser and copied the figures as they display. Each address is the firm's own; each name was looked up in the Companies Registration Office's records, through SoloCheck, that day. In the first ten, Format Web Design (Holborn Street, Sligo), which ranks first, OSD Digital Agency (Stephen Street, Sligo) and Darragh Kerrigan Creative (Castle Street, Sligo, by its site, while its business name is registered with a Dublin address; the budget options of its quote form start at €2,000 to €5,000) print no price; nor do Creation Media (Ballisodare) and Doublewest Design (Sligo), which Google lists among the local firms. Blossom Designs, seventh, gives Tubbercurry in its cookie policy, with no street and a second base in Malta, and we found no entry for its name in the register: we leave its prices out. Flo Web Design, second, has its offices in Drogheda, Kells and Dublin. Bark, eighth, is a directory: it displays “The average price of Web Designers in Sligo is €600” (its Sligo page) without saying how that is worked out, so it is no firm's price. These five firms' prices are also in our Irish price observatory. These are the prices of 16/10/2026: have the one you are offered put in writing. Ours are on the pricing page.

Five questions to ask a Sligo web designer before you sign

Is VAT on top? Dmac Media and Sligo Web Design write “+ VAT” after their prices; Sligo Websites, Sevenoways and Smiling Spiders do not say. A designer whose turnover stays under €42,500 need not register for VAT and adds none (Revenue's thresholds, read 16/10/2026); one who is registered adds 23%. Ask for the price with VAT, in writing.

What will year two cost? Sligo Websites prints it line by line: hosting, domain and care. Smiling Spiders and Sevenoways print monthly care plans, from €50 and from €79 a month. Sligo Web Design includes the first year of hosting and a domain up to €40, and does not say whether its €50 + VAT maintenance is a month or a year. Ask for the second year's bill before you pay the first.

How long am I tied in, and whose name is the domain in? Dmac Media's website plans run for twelve months at least; Sevenoways says all its plans are “rolling monthly”, and its web design page promises “You own everything. Your domain, your content, your site.” Ask what you take with you if you leave, and whose name the domain is registered in.

Which booking tool, and at what price? None of the five price lists in this survey puts a price on online booking. Sevenoways sets up “booking integrations”, Smiling Spiders counts calendars and payment gateways among its extras. Ask for the name of the tool and its monthly cost before you compare two quotes.

Will the site show what the law asks? If your business is a company (a Ltd, a DAC or any other kind), its website must show the company's name and legal form, where it is registered and its number, and the address of its registered office, “in a prominent and easily accessible place” (Companies Act 2014, section 151(4), revised Act read 16/10/2026). Analytics cookies need the visitor's consent, and a banner that takes “continued use” of the site as consent “is not permissible”, says the Data Protection Commission's cookie guidance (April 2020).

How it works with us: the account, then the website, then the payment

No quote to wait for and no meeting to fit around your appointments: you open an account online and fill in the website yourself, your services and prices, opening hours and a few photos. Count about ten minutes.

Nothing is billed while you build. You pick a plan and pay online, then put the website live yourself, in one click.

After that, a client reading your prices can book there and then at any hour and pay when they book, the full price or a deposit; an e-mail reminds them the day before, and on Pro they collect loyalty points. How they reach the site in the first place: how people find you on Google.

A free 15-minute launch call is there if you want a hand, booked from your account once it is open. What we do not do: we have no office in Sligo and meet nobody in person, we sell no Google Ads or social media management, we promise no position on Google, and Traxo is not a directory that sends you clients. It is a website in your business's name, with booking, payment and your client records.

County Sligo in figures: 4,875 businesses, 4,520 of them with fewer than ten people

County Sligo had 4,875 active enterprises in 2024, with 20,474 people engaged in them, and 4,520 of those enterprises, more than nine in ten, had fewer than ten people, according to the CSO's Business Demography by employment size, table BRA30 (read on 16/10/2026).

By sector (table BRA34), construction is the largest, with 910 enterprises. The businesses that live on appointments come next to each other: 294 in human health activities, where the CSO counts medical and dental practices; 279 in “other personal service activities” (S96, the NACE group that holds hairdressing and beauty treatment, beside laundries and funeral services); 264 in food and beverage service (restaurants, cafés, bars and caterers). Retailers come to 326.

Those 279 personal-service businesses engage 554 people, about two each, and 307 of them are employees, about one per business. A salon that size buys a website once, and the grant below asks for at least one paid employee. Of the five firms that print a price here, none prints one for online booking.

Create my website

Rent, buy or subscribe: a hair salon on O'Connell Street over three years

Take Niamh, who runs a three-chair hair salon on O'Connell Street and wants a website where clients see her prices and book. Here are three ways to pay for it, each summed only with figures one firm prints on one page, read on 16/10/2026: Dmac Media's and ours before VAT; Sligo Websites' as printed, its page not saying whether VAT is in them.

Renting. Dmac Media, in Cleveragh, rents a template-based site with hosting, domain and an hour of changes a month for €199 + VAT a month, “Minimum 12-Month Contract” (its website as a service page). Year one: 12 × 199 = €2,388. Three years: 36 × 199 = €7,164. The page lists no online booking.

Buying. Sligo Websites, in Strandhill, sells its Gold package, four to six pages with a domain, hosting and monthly care for the first year, for €1250, and the same page prints what comes after: hosting €60 a year, a .ie domain €25, care at €85 a year (its packages). Three years: 1,250 + 2 × (60 + 25 + 85) = €1,590. The page does not say whether VAT is included, and lists no online booking: a booking tool would be another subscription, which neither firm prices.

Subscribing. With us it is €40 a month excl. VAT billed yearly, €480 a year, so 36 × 40 = €1,440 over three years, booking and payment at booking included. Payments taken online carry 3% excl. VAT. Our hypothesis, not a measurement: Niamh asks a €10 deposit at booking and 60 clients a month pay it, €600 a month, so €18 a month in fees, €648 over three years. Total: €2,088.

Year by year, added up: Dmac Media €2,388, €4,776, €7,164; Sligo Websites €1,250, €1,420, €1,590; us €696, €1,392, €2,088. We cost less than Sligo Websites for two years and €498 more by the end of the third. With no payment taken online, our three years come to €1,440, under its €1,590: the two meet when €5,000 is paid online over the three years (3% of €5,000 is €150), about €139 a month.

The honest result. If the site only has to show who Niamh is and what she charges, and will not change, buying from Sligo Websites is the cheapest over three years. Renting from Dmac Media costs the most, but someone else makes the changes every month. Ours makes sense if she wants clients to book and leave a deposit online, with each client's record in one place. Our yearly plan commits her for twelve months, paid upfront, much as Dmac Media's minimum term does; the monthly plan, at €50, commits her to nothing. And with us, when the subscription stops, the website and the domain stop with it. Dmac Media's terms of sale, a document dated 2016 and linked from its terms page, say that “The website, graphics and any programming code remain the property of Dmac Media Ltd. until all outstanding accounts are paid in full.” Ask what happens when a rental ends.

VAT. If the salon is VAT-registered, it deducts the VAT it is charged, and the sums above compare as they stand. If it is not, VAT is a cost. Dmac Media's €199 becomes €244.77 a month at 23%, €8,811.72 over three years. We add French VAT at 20% for a business without a VAT number: €48 a month, €2,505.60 over three years with the example's fees. Sligo Websites does not say whether its €1,590 includes VAT; if it does not and the firm is registered, it becomes €1,955.70. Buying stays the cheapest either way.

The grant. The Grow Digital Voucher changes a sum only where its conditions fit: it pays half of one year of an “off the shelf” subscription new to the business, “Online booking, payments or appointments” among its examples, but the grant is at least €500, so the project needs €1,000 of eligible costs. A year of our Starter is €480 (half is €240), a year of Pro €960 (half is €480): on their own, both fall under the minimum. A website bought outright is not a software subscription, and the voucher “does not support bespoke website development”; whether Dmac Media's rented site counts as an off-the-shelf subscription is for the Local Enterprise Office to decide.

Website grants in Sligo: what LEO Sligo and the Chamber on Quay Street offer

Sligo Chamber of Commerce & Industry is at 16 Quay Street. It says it represents “over 200 businesses and organisations in Sligo City and County”, and it is accredited to Chambers Ireland. Its membership benefits are network events, workshops and “up to 20% subsidy on customized training for your business through Sligo Chamber Skillnet”. Its membership rates page, which the menu does not link to (the site map dates it to August 2020), asks €175 a year for a business with one employee and €275 for two to ten. The year runs from January to December, and the page says nothing on VAT: ask whether those rates still apply.

The Local Enterprise Office Sligo is on the same street, at City Hall, Quay Street (F91 PP44). On 16/10/2026 its list of financial supports carried Digital for Business and Grow Digital, and no Trading Online Voucher. “This scheme will close for applications on the 13th December 2024 at 5pm”, its national page still says: a Sligo web page that still offers it to you is out of date.

The Grow Digital Voucher is the one that touches a website. “The grant aid will be 50% of eligible costs with minimum grant aid of €500 up to a maximum grant of €5,000 per application”, for businesses “with between 1 and 50 paid employees”, “established and trading for at least 6 months”, that “have completed a Digital for Business Project within the previous two years”. It pays for software “NEW to the business for a maximum of one year subscription”, “off the shelf”, and “The Grow Digital Voucher does not support bespoke website development”. Above all: “An application must be submitted before any project expenditure is incurred”. Traxo is an off-the-shelf subscription with online booking and payments, the kind of software the voucher lists; what a year of it comes to against the €500 minimum is worked out in the example above. Ask LEO Sligo before you buy anything: it decides what qualifies, and the firm selling you the software does not.

What people who had a website built say

This is the second website DMAC have created for me- they were brilliant to deal with, so helpful and professional and always forward looking even when I got stuck!

Hilary O'Connor, Trustpilot review of Dmac Media, Sligo, 08/02/2026

Hosting Ireland had hidden costs, bad customer service. Set up a domain and only then learned it needed a 15 euro per month SSL certificate package, not possible to use a free one (whereas it usually is free). This was not made clear when I set up the hosting, and it's very unusual.

Conor Maloney, Trustpilot review of Hosting Ireland (Waterford), by a website owner who moved host, 12/08/2026

Frequently asked questions

How much should you pay for website design in Sligo?

What the Sligo firms print, read on 16/10/2026: from €550 + VAT on the cards and from €750 + VAT in the FAQ of Sligo Web Design, in Strandhill; €750 to €1750 at Sligo Websites, also in Strandhill; from €999 at Sevenoways in Coolaney; “between €2,000 and €3,000” for most sites at Smiling Spiders, on Chapel Street; or €199 + VAT a month, for twelve months at least, to rent one from Dmac Media in Cleveragh. Bark, a directory, displays an average of €600 for Sligo without saying how it is worked out. For the rest of Ireland, see what a website costs in Ireland. With us it is €40 a month excl. VAT on yearly billing; see our pricing page.

Is it cheaper to rent a website or to buy one?

Over three years, buying came out cheapest in our example: €1,590 for Sligo Websites' Gold package with the running costs its page prints, against €7,164 excl. VAT to rent Dmac Media's Starter package, which includes an hour of changes a month. Our subscription costs €1,440 over three years plus 3% excl. VAT of what clients pay online. That is less than Sligo Websites' €1,590 until €5,000 has been paid online, and €2,088 in our example with €600 of deposits a month; booking and payment at booking are included. Check the minimum term too: twelve months at Dmac Media, twelve months on our yearly plan and none on our monthly one.

Is there a grant for a website in Sligo?

Not the Trading Online Voucher: it closed for applications on 13/12/2024. The Grow Digital Voucher is open: 50% of eligible costs, a grant of €500 to €5,000, for businesses trading for at least six months with 1 to 50 paid employees, that have completed a Digital for Business project in the previous two years; a hairdresser working alone, with no paid employee, should ask before counting on it. It covers a new, off-the-shelf software subscription for one year, not bespoke website development, and you apply to the Local Enterprise Office at City Hall before you spend anything. A year of our Starter plan, €480, is under the €1,000 of costs its €500 minimum grant implies.

Do Sligo web designers charge VAT?

Dmac Media and Sligo Web Design print their prices “+ VAT”, so add 23%: €199 becomes €244.77 a month. Sligo Websites, Sevenoways and Smiling Spiders do not say. A designer below Revenue's €42,500 threshold for services can stay unregistered, and then charges no VAT at all. Our prices exclude VAT: with an Irish VAT number checked on VIES, we invoice without VAT and you account for the Irish VAT yourself (reverse charge); without one, we add French VAT at 20%.

Does Traxo have an office in Sligo?

No. We work remotely, and the optional launch call happens remotely as well. If you would rather call in to someone, the five firms on this page give an address in the county, from Chapel Street in the town to Coolaney, and the Chamber and the Local Enterprise Office are both on Quay Street.
